Reporting radiographer peer review systems: A cross-sectional survey of London NHS Trusts

IntroductionPeer review is frequently incorporated within radiographer reporting services. The aim of this study to establish peer systems used for radiograph reports provided by radiographers in London.MethodsAn online cross-sectional survey NHS diagnostic imaging departments was performed. Reporting demographics (number, frequency reporting, scope practice) and provide (review frequency, case selection, volume, outcome measure, practitioner performing the review) were collected.ResultsThirteen eligible responses received (61.9% response rate). Variability found between Trusts number radiographers, sessions practice. Most (9 13, 69.2%) have active reporting. All use random most often performed on a monthly basis. Both fixed or percentage cases reported used, with true positive, negative, false negative frequent measure. Of 12 that are planning system, all currently plan conduct review, five (41.2%) also using consultant radiologists.ConclusionPeer common London although there variation methods used.Implications practiceRadiographer undergo review. Standardisation should be considered, standardised systematic system has been proposed.
